  • Seasonal work in the EU: checks before accepting an offer

Reviewed: 19 October 2026. General information only, not legal or individual immigration advice. Seasonal routes and their conditions must be checked for the destination country.

Seasonal work is a specific category

The EU Immigration Portal’s category guidance describes seasonal work as a distinct immigration category. It is not a general way to enter Europe and take any available job. Permission, duration and employer-related conditions depend on the national route.

A seasonal contract should be evaluated on its own terms rather than treated as a promised route to permanent employment or residence. Ask the destination authority about any future change of status instead of accepting an intermediary’s assurance.

    Understand what the offer includes

As practical checks, identify the actual employer, workplace, duties, contract dates, working hours and pay. If accommodation is offered, ask for its location, cost, conditions and any proposed deductions. Clarify travel arrangements and who is responsible if the work dates change.

Request written explanations of payments and services. A short recruitment message saying “visa, housing and job included” is not a substitute for an employment contract or an official application process.

Check permission before travel and work

Use the country-specific seasonal-worker information linked from the official portal. Confirm who applies, where the application is submitted and what must be approved before beginning work. Do not assume that permission issued by one country lets you take seasonal work in another.

The Commission’s migration-safety guidance warns about promises of entry and the risks of unauthorized routes. Independently verify contacts and keep copies of your documents and written terms. If you face coercion or immediate danger, seek help from local emergency or official support services rather than a recruitment enquiry form.

Read our candidate FAQs before organizing a move.

Your next step: Tell ErdoBar about the kind of work you are seeking and ask about candidate recruitment support. This is not an offer of seasonal vacancies or a promise of permit approval.
