A job offer and permission to practise are different
A profession can require a specific qualification, examination or registration before someone may practise. The EU’s regulated-professions guidance explains that regulation differs between countries and that non-EU qualifications are subject to national recognition rules.
This matters when comparing vacancies. An employer may like your experience while the professional body still requires a separate assessment. Immigration approval should not be treated as a substitute for professional authorization.
Research the exact role and destination
Start with the profession as it is described in the destination country, not only your current job title. Identify the competent authority or national contact point and ask which recognition process applies to qualifications awarded in your country.
A missing result in an online database is not enough to conclude that a profession is unregulated. The official guidance directs readers to national contact points when information is unclear.
As a preparation step, gather a record of your qualification, transcript, training content, practical experience and existing professional registration. This is an organizational suggestion, not a universal document checklist. The assessing body decides which evidence, translations and certifications it requires.
Keep academic and professional checks distinct
Ask whether the employer needs academic comparability, professional recognition, a licence, or more than one of these. Germany’s qualified-professional visa guide, for example, discusses qualifications and licensing as separate considerations within its route.
Before paying for an assessment, confirm that you are using the correct organization and process. Keep your CV accurate: describe an application as pending rather than presenting it as completed recognition.
