  • Work-permit documents: build a country-specific checklist

Reviewed: 19 October 2026. General information only, not legal or individual immigration advice. This is an organizing method, not an official or complete application checklist.

Begin with the route, not a generic document bundle

A passport, qualification and employment contract may feature in several routes, but their exact requirements differ. The EU Blue Card guidance, for example, discusses employment, qualifications, travel documents and insurance. Another route can ask for different evidence.

Use the EU Immigration Portal to identify the country and category, then find the national authority’s current checklist. Record its link and the date you checked it.

Divide the work between the right people

An effective tracker can have four sections: identity and travel evidence; qualifications or licensing; employer and job evidence; and any route-specific supporting material. Add a responsible person, status and official instruction beside each item.

Ask the employer which documents it supplies and whether you will need an original, scan or official reference. Do not assume that a recruiter can create employer evidence on the employer’s behalf.

    Resolve inconsistencies openly

Check names, dates and job details across records before submission. If a name or date differs, ask the relevant authority how it should be explained or evidenced. Do not edit a certificate or conceal a discrepancy to make documents appear consistent.

Confirm translation, certification and validity requirements before paying for them. A document accepted for one country or purpose may not meet another authority’s requirements. Avoid sending a full identity bundle to an unverified contact merely to find out whether a vacancy exists.

Keep your recruitment tracker separate from the authority’s application record. “Documents sent to employer” is not the same as “complete application accepted.”

Your next step: Contact ErdoBar with your target role and ask how to share a CV for a recruitment enquiry. Use the competent authority for your application checklist. No document review, job or permit approval is promised.
