International job applications: explain your qualifications and work status

Make unfamiliar experience understandable

An overseas employer may not recognize your qualification title, previous organization or professional terminology. A clear application explains the work you actually did and the evidence behind your skills, without pretending that a foreign credential has already been recognized locally.

As a practical writing approach, keep the qualification’s official name, identify its awarding institution and explain relevant subjects or practical training. Use accurate examples of responsibilities and outcomes. Include figures only where you can substantiate them; a specific description is better than an invented percentage.

Separate your CV from formal recognition

An employer understanding your training is not the same as a professional authority accepting it. The EU’s regulated-professions guidance explains that non-EU qualifications are subject to national recognition rules where professional recognition is required.

Describe an assessment accurately as completed, pending or not yet started. Do not change the original title of a credential to imply equivalence. Germany’s qualified-professional route illustrates why qualification evidence and the specific job both matter.

Be precise about location and work status

State where you currently live, which roles you are targeting and whether relocation is part of your plan. If you know your existing permission has conditions, communicate them accurately. If you have not verified your eligibility, say so rather than claiming unrestricted European work rights.

Avoid adding passport numbers, bank details or unnecessary sensitive records to a general CV. A recruiter may need a professional summary before any verified employer or authority requests further evidence through an appropriate process.

Your next step: Ask ErdoBar how to share your CV for a candidate recruitment enquiry. Include your target role and destination. Recruitment support does not guarantee recognition, work permission or employment.
